FAQ's

Popular Questions

What qualifies as “Specialty Coffee”?

Specialty coffee refers to beans that score 80 points or higher on the SCA (Specialty Coffee Association) scale, meaning they’ve been meticulously grown, harvested, and roasted to highlight distinctive flavours. This level of care ensures complexity, clarity, and an exceptional drinking experience compared to standard commercial coffee.

Are the flavour notes on the bag naturally occurring?

Absolutely! Those tasting notes—like fruity, nutty, or chocolatey—come from compounds naturally developed during cultivation and roasting, not artificial additives . They serve as sensory guides, helping you anticipate the unique character of each coffee.

Does roast level affect caffeine content?

Not significantly. Whilst darker roasts may taste stronger, the caffeine content remains similar to light or medium roasts when measured by weight. Brewing method and bean quantity have a much greater impact on caffeine strength.

How should I store my coffee to keep it fresh?

Store whole beans at room temperature, away from light, heat, and moisture. Avoid refrigeration (moisture risk) and freezing unless you're storing large batches long-term—then freeze once, not repeatedly. They are best enjoyed within 3 months of roast date. Once opened, they are best to consumer within 2 weeks.

What grind size should I use for different brewing methods?

Grind size must match your brewing method:
Fine for espresso
Medium for drip or AeroPress
Coarse for French press
This ensures proper extraction—too fine can over-extract (bitter), too coarse can under-extract (weak)—and delivers the best flavour for each method.
